Carrying over from a previous site, I hope to continue to update people with pertinent news in the region of South East Asia where we primarily currently serve.
We are excited for Nepal! Praise the Lord!
Most are noticing Nepal’s decreasing numbers here concerning the virus. Life seems to have returned to normal for the most part. I attended a wedding reception today and 85% of the participants did not bother wearing a mask. The numbers have greatly improved with less than 200 and days of less than 100 new cases recently.
Today no deaths were recorded. The article states, “[a]s of today, the country has witnessed 272,718 cases of the coronavirus infection while 269,060 people have recovered from the disease. Meanwhile, 2,054 COVID-19 fatalities have been confirmed.” The country has done well apart from the economic damage to its fledgling economy. Census data records the present population of Nepal around 23 million with many working outside the nation. There is a recent demand ahead of the Olympics for Nepalis to go to Japan for work. This is the main way Nepalis earn a living. The next is tourism. In 2020, Nepal attempted to launch a 2020 Visit Nepal campaign which failed for many reasons–the virus being the final nail in the coffin.
